Jamison’s Letters

This week’s prompt is “She lifted the stack of letters from the ancient chest…”

Ruth opened the door and gasped, “It’s like stepping back in time.”

“You’ll have no access to any electronic devices or equipment.”

She lifted the stack of letters from the ancient chest, “These are Jamison’s letters, written on assignment . . .?”

“Yes, and they’re in cursive so we’ve provided a chart to help you decipher them.”

“He was in a remote location. We’re sending you to a city with better equipment,” Commander Jones reassured her.  “We will monitor you, but without contact. At the end of this training session we will need a decision.”

Even then, Ruth knew she would accept the mission.

Note: this is a prequel to “Beam me up, Scottie.”
